Visiting University of Nottingham, UK delegation meets Panjab University VC

Chandigarh July 23, 2015:  Visiting University of Nottingham (UoN), UK delegation on Wednesday met Panjab University, Chandigarh Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, members of Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) institutions and all Deans to explore further mutual cooperation and collaborations. The meeting was held on note of MoU signed between PU and University of Nottingham on March 11, 2015.

The UK delegation comprised of Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor, Asia-Pacific region, Prof.Michele Clarke; Mr Jason Feehily, Asian Business Centre and Country Advisor for University of Nottingham, Ms. Vartika T. Mudalier. The delegation visited various departments of PU and PEC University. They were impressed by the level of research and sophisticated instruments being used at the universities.

Prof. Clarke also interacted with various faculty members of Departments and Colleges of PU and discussed issues of individual collaborations.

Earlier, PU VC Prof. Grover extended warm welcome to the visiting delegates. He emphasized on Vision 2020, focusing on development of human resource in interest of solving global economic issues. Vision 2020 can be achieved by promoting research both on international and national front. Keeping in mind development of Chandigarh as a smart city, he outlined the importance of engaging the local UT Administration and civic society in a more encouraging way to promote skilled man power bringing Science and Technology to the frontier.

Prof. Michele Clark, laid emphasis on such collaboration by supporting individual to individual subject specialization, student and faculty exchange program through proper funding. She emphasized to adopt bottom to top approach in mutual collaborations. She offered that UoN can bring UK students for short period of time. She appreciated the progress being made on extending mutual cooperation and support. 

Prof. Jason focused more on industrial collaboration between UoN and Chandigarh region for development of better industrial corridors. He said that the two universities were leading the two countries in this regard. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
