Jalandhar: Vishw Samwad Samiti (Punjab) today organised discussion on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) at J.C.Resort, By Pass Road, Jalandhar in which large number of eminent personalities, speaker educationists, lawyers, professors were present.
The Chief Guest Col (Retd) S Jaibans Singh, a writer, Columnist author addressed the masses on CAA. He expressed deep concern over the violent agitation in the aftermath of the being the Act constitutionally procedure passed in the both houses of Parliament. He said that while protests was legitimate right of the people of the country the high level of violence that accompanied the protest has the signature of the same being engineered by professional elements at the behest of the anti-national forces. He said that the unrest was being effectively carried out by police and security forces with great restrain and maturity which was a very positive development would seriously consider the sentiments expressed by the moderate protesters and ensure the same are implanted on merit. He expressed with confidence that the government that concept of giving citizenship to the minorities persecuted in Islamic Countries which was accepted by all the political parties, leaders and people since partition of the country. From Mahatma Gandhi to Pt Jawaharlal Lal Nehru, Dr S Manmohan Singh had spoken clearly in favour of initiative. The courageous action by the present Government to apply this sentiment on the ground needs the highest praise and admiration. He said certain forces were creating disinformation through misinformation. The need of time is to be identifies and exposed.
He further elaborated the amendment was time bond and restricted to benefit certain segment of unfortunate persecuted people who had sought refuge in the country up to 31st December 2014. He emphatically stated that CAA was in no way associated with the progress of preparing a National Register of Citizens. (NRC) and disinformation in this regard needs to be serious contested. It is unnecessary causing a state of insecurity and distrust among the masses. CAA will in no way effect the liberal policy already legislated to giving refugee to those already registered so far those looking for citizenship under existing laws have nothing to worry.
While speaking on the atrocities being heaped on the minorities in Afghanistan, Bangla Desh, Pakistan he said that not only India but the entire World should take cognisance of the same it entails the worst from of Human Right Violation. This is the major reason that the people in minority community in these nations has reduced to an almost negligible level. He justified the CAA legislation in the tune with the highest tenet of humanity that is the benchmark of Bharat. He gave a call to all the National Forces to stand together and remove all apprehensions that are being spread by false rumours.
