Violations in allotment of Ghaziabad's reserved houses

Ghaziabad, July 7 (IANS) Gross violations have been detected in the allotment of compulsory housing schemes for EWS and LIG categories in Ghaziabad, a civic official said Monday.

Municipal Councillor Rajendra Tyagi claimed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had in 2013 launched 10 percent compulsory housing units for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) categories from the developer's total constructed units in their respective townships.

However, while implementing this pro-poor scheme, some reserved category houses were found allotted to non-eligible categories.

Tyagi claimed Yadavs, Tyagis, Raghavs, Kashyaps and Chauhans who cannot be Scheduled Tribes have grabbed the reserved houses. Over a dozen such names were found in the list of 95 people.

The councillor alleged several ex-servicemen too have manipulated norms to get into the list of successful candidates for a house despite drawing pension in excess of Rs.6,000 (categorised for EWS class) and Rs.12,000 (earmarked for LIG category).
