Village Daulatpur Lights Up With Solar Energy

Ludhiana, April 26, 2015: Under a special grant from Punjab government, village Daulatpur of Ludhiana district has lit up with solar energy now. The installation of these solar lights has added a new chapter of development for the village residents and would also reduce the number of thefts and other criminal activities during night time. These solar powered streetlights were inaugurated by Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal on Saturday.
It is pertinent to mention that these solar powered streetlights have been installed in the village from Rs 2.70 lakh grant given by the Punjab government. A total of 15 such streetlights have been installed on the outer ring road and other prominent places inside the village. Besides this, the sewerage system has also been updated with a grant of Rs 5 lakh from the Punjab government. 
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal congratulated the village residents regarding solar powered streetlights and sewerage system, that have been installed with a grant from Punjab government. He said that its the Punjab government';s commitment that they want to provide urban facilities to the people residing in rural areas of the state.
He informed the very soon, all roads and link roads of villages falling in Payal constituency would be re-carpeted and around Rs 15 crore would be spent on this project. He also informed that very soon, an ITI and a new police station would be constructed in Payal constituency with a cost of Rs 6 crore and Rs 3 crore respectively. He said besides this, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee is also setting up a Nursing College in the constituency.
Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal informed that very soon the statue of Baba Maharaj Singh would be set up in New Courts Complex at Ludhiana. He informed that the Punjab government would be spending Rs 1 crore for this project.
He also urged the Panchayat';s of Payal constituency to make sure five teachers each are deputed in the primary schools so that the standard of education is uplifted. He said that such villages would be given an additional grant of Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 from his side. On the occasion, he also announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh for the village Dharamshala.
Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal also visited the grain markets at Malaud, Payal and Doraha and interacted with the farmers and directed staff of procurement agencies to make sure wheat is procured without any delay. He urged the farmers to bring only the ripened crop to the grain markets if they want proper rates without any harassment.
