Vigilance nabs a private person red handed working in SDM office

Chandigarh, July 10, 2017: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, today nabbed a private person working in the SDM office Batala red handed while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Santokh Singh, a former employee of Suvidha Centre Batala, was working in the office of SDM Batala and claiming himself as reader, has been nabbed red handed on the complaint of Baldev Singh, of village Khokhar Foujian, Tehsil Batala district Gurdaspur.

He added that the complainant has approached the Bureau and alleged that the accused Santokh Singh was demanding Rs. 10,000 to help him for getting a decision of land case in his favour. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

The spokesman informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Ludhiana and further investigation was under progress.
