Vigilance Bureau launches awareness campaign to weed out corruption from the society: Uppal
Chandigarh, October 29, 2018: In a bid to promote transparency, accountability, probity and integrity in the society, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau organized 'vigilance awareness week' to spread awareness about the evil effects of corruption. The 'Vigilance Awareness Week’ would be observed across the state from October 29 to November 3. Disclosing this here today, B.K. Uppal, ADGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau said this outreach activity is aimed to spread awareness among the public to play a crucial role in eradicating corruption from the society. This awareness week would be seen as our continuous effort to involve public as active participants in ensuring a ‘corruption free state’ and also inspire the officers to implement preventive measures effectively so that transparency and accountability could be maintained. He added that basic motto of this awareness week was to create a corruption free society under the theme of ‘Eradicate Corruption- Build A New India' as conceived by the Central Vigilance Commission. The Vigilance Bureau, therefore, lays greater emphasis on generation of awareness among the public as a more effective and sustainable means of fighting corruption, he stressed. On the commencement of vigilance awareness week Director Vigilance Bureau Nageswara Rao administered integrity pledge to all officers and employees of the bureau. He asked the subordinate staff to work efficiently and clear the backlog of pending vigilance cases. Meanwhile vigilance awareness week was also organised in all vigilance ranges and sub divisions where field officers administered oath of integrity to vigilance staff. The range SSPs have also chalked out various awareness programmes to be conducted in the educational institutions and offices during the week. WILL PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TO 55 PROGRESSIVE YOUNGSTERS FROM EACH DISTRICT IN DAIRY FIELD: BALBIR SINGH SIDHU Chandigarh: Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department has framed an ambitious policy to provide self employment to alteast 55 youngsters from each district, at their doorsteps in the field of dairy farming. It was disclosed by Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister in a press communiqué released here on Monday. He said that that we will encourage the youth to opt for dairy farming which has plenty of scope to flourish and earn sizeable income with less input cost. He said working in this direction, the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department would commence a training programme from November 12, 2018 to impart the training to the dairy farmers on various new techniques prevalent worldwide in the field of dairy farming. He said that this training would be given at all the Dairy Training and Development Centres . Training module would cover the topics like how to increase the milk production with less input cost, latest available machinery and technology and its usage, modern marketing techniques to sell milk. Mr. Sidhu said that dairy farming is profitable occupation and the Punjab Government is giving 25 to 33 per cent subsidy on the purchase of Milch animals, purchase of milking machines and on the purchase of machinery to make various milk products at the village level. Divulging the detail of the training schedule, Mr. Sidhu said that this four week training would be commenced at Dairy Training and Development Centre, Bija (Ludhiana), Chatamali (Ropar), Gill (Moga), Abul Khuran (Sri Mukatsar Sahib), Sardulgarh (Mansa), Phagwara (Kapurthala) and Verka (Amritsar). He said that to select the candidates for this training counseling would be conducted at respective training centres from November 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. He said that any person (boy or girl) of the age of 18 to 45 years having minimum matriculation qualification and who is having his/her own farm of minimum 5 milch animals can apply for this training. Mr. Inderjit Singh, Director Dairy Development said that prospectus to apply for this training is available at all the training centres. AMRITSAR RAIL TRAGEDY: HEALTH MINISTER DISBURSES CHEQUES OF COMPENSATION TO 36 INJURED CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR: As part of the Punjab Government’s resolve to rehabilitate the families of the victims of the Amritsar Rail Tragedy and lend helping hand to the injured, a joint team of Punjab Cabinet Ministers under the leadership of Health Minister Mr. Brahm Mohindra on Sunday visited various 5 hospitals to enquire about the recovery of the injured persons who are under treatment in these hospitals after Rail Tragedy. Financial help by way of cheque of Rs. 50 thousand was given to each of such injured person. Another cabinet colleagues who were accompanying Mr. Brahm Mohindra included Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria and Sadhu Singh Dharamsot. Expressing his satisfaction over the prompt delivery of quality medical care and treatment to the victims of the Rail Tragedy, The Health Minister Mr. Brahm Mohindra announced to grant financial help to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh to the Civil Hospital, Amritsar and Guru Nanak Hospital for his discretionary fund. This amount would be spent for purchasing the machines required for the urgent treatment of the patients. Mr. Brahm Mohindra called upon the administrative heads of all the hospitals where the injured of Rail Tragedy are under treatment, to discharged these patients after their full recovery. Health Minister showered words of high praise over all such doctors and para medical staff who worked 24X7 with missionary zeal to mitigate the miseries of the victims by providing medical care and treatment at the crucial hour. He reiterated that Punjab Government would ensure that all the victims are getting free medical treatment and their families are rehabilitated. He expressed satisfaction over the announcement of Amritsar Corporation to give job to family members of the victims and said that this goodwill action would provide livelihood to the affected families. Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu said that all these affected families are just like my own family and I would leave no stone unturned for the welfare of these families especially for the education of the children of these familes. Mr. Sarkaria also used high words of praise for the timely actions taken by the Punjab Government for the rehabilitation of these Rail Tragedy stricken families. TEMPO SET FOR MLF 2018 AS 1ST SET OF PRE-FEST EVENTS CULMINATE IN PATIALA Chandigarh/Patiala: The first set of events in the run-up to the second edition of the Military Literature Festival (MLF) culminated in Patiala on Sunday with a nail-biting polo match between Patiala Chargers and Patiala Raiders. Aimed at imbuing youngsters with the spirit of adventure sports and at inspiring them to join the armed forces, as envisioned by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the match was part of the Western Command Polo Challenge that was designed to inspire the large number of students, NCC Cadets and rural youth who had turned up to witness the exhilarating moment. Lieutenant General Surinder Singh, GOC-in-C Western Command, was the Chief Guest and Senior Advisor to Punjab CM-Lieutenant General (retd) T.S. Shergill presided over the prize distribution ceremony that followed the match, which was preceded by two days of Shooting and one day of Archery competitions. Shergill said that MLF is a joint initiative of Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, and UT Chandigarh Administrator VP Singh Badnore, in collaboration with the Indian Army. WOMEN COMMISSION ANNOUNCES GUIDELINES FOR WOMEN SAFETY AT WORKPLACE Chandigarh: Applauded the #Metoo movement, Punjab State Women Commission's Chairperson Mrs. Manisha Gulati today issued a guidelines regarding the safety of women in workplaces. Mrs. Gulati said that Commission has decided that we shall frame a policy for the entire staff, administrators and elected officials, so that no one harasses a woman in future at workplaces. She said that Govt. of India, via notification dated November 9, 2013, has passed the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act. In the light of this notification commission has announced certain rules and regulations to prevent any kind of sexual harassment of women at workplace. Under these guidelines sexual harassment may occur not only where a person uses sexual behavior to control, influence or affect the career, salary or job of another person, but also between co-workers. All male officers and ministers are required to understand that if a female employee is being called for any kind of discussion or meeting into a confined space (for e.g. an Office), he needs to have a minimum of one other woman in the office for the entire duration of the meeting. No kinds of discussions which include the salary appraisals of the female junior or involving money shall be done with any indication of receiving any favor from the female employee. Mrs Gulati said that Physical contact and advances shall be considered as sexual harassment and it is mandatory that no male employee shall behave in any manner which can be construed as sexual in nature. Sexually colored remarks or remarks of a sexual nature about female's clothing or body are strictly prohibited at workplace. Indulging in any humor laced with sexual innuendoes, sexual teasing and sexual pranks are not allowed. She categorically said that any jokes, photos, GIFs, videos or even plain text sent to any female’s mobile phone by a male colleague, junior or senior shall be taken as serious and sexual harassment of the female employee, and shall be dealt with strictly. Any communication happening on mobile devices including mobile phones, tablets, computers, or even landlines are not limited by office hours and hence any objectionable content sent by a male colleague, junior or senior to a female, even outside the office hours, shall not be tolerated by the Commission and be dealt with in lines with sexual harassment. CHIEF JUSTICE ADMINISTERS OATH TO FOUR NEW ADDITIONAL HIGH COURT JUDGES CHANDIGARH: The Chief justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court Mr. Krishna Murari, today administered oath of office to four new judges as additional judges of Punjab & Haryana high court. The judges to whom oath as judges of this court was administered were Mrs. Manjari Nehru Kaul, Mr. Harsimran Singh Sethi, Mr. Arun Monga and Mr. Manoj Bajaj.
