Ludhiana, February 28, 2019: In wake of the situation on India-Pakistan border, an emergency meeting of civil, police and army administration was held at Bachat Bhawan, here today, which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. During the meeting, it was decided that if any emergency like situation arises, everyone should remain vigilant and necessary arrangements should be made on time.

Mr Agrawal said that the District Administration has set up a control room (number 0161-2433100, 2404055) that would remain operational 24X7. Besides, the local Army administration have also issued their helpline numbers 98786-98405, 9991347241. All the SDMs have also been directed to ensure a sub-division wise control rooms are also set up and remain operational 24X7 as well. The district level officers of all government departments have been asked to ensure that their mobile phones remain switched on at all times and whenever they get any information, they would bring it to the notice of their senior officials.

While appealing the residents, especially media persons, Mr Agrawal urged them to remain vigilant from the misleading propaganda on social media. He asked them not to forward any information related to war without verifying its facts on social media because it might lead to fear and panic amongst the residents.

He stated that both the Union Government as well as the Punjab government is striving hard for a diplomatic solution to the entire issue, for which peoples support is required. The police administration has also been directed to depute security personnel at necessary places as per need.

Mr Agrawal informed that Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarter) Mr Deepak Pareek have been deputed as Nodal Officers for District Administration and Police Administration, respectively. Similarly, the Ludhiana (Rural) Police, Khanna Police, Halwara Air Force Station and local Army units have deputed their Nodal Officers, so that better coordination can be achieved in any emergency like situation.

He stated that NDRF team should be put on standby so that their services can be taken whenever required. He directed the Civil Surgeon and Health Department officials to prepare a list of all hospitals of district Ludhiana and also maintain proper stock of necessary medicines and equipment. The Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department has also been asked to maintain proper stock of animal fodder. The District Food and Supplies Controller has been asked to maintain stock of necessary eatables, kerosene oil, petrol/diesel and LPG cylinders, the Secretary Regional Transport Authority has been asked to keep vehicles on standby so that people can be shifted to safe places if need arises, besides directions were also issued to ensure recovery vans, machinery, boats, fire tenders etc should be kept standby. The PSPCL officials have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply in all government departments and hospitals.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed all government officials of the district to not proceed on leave without permission and should answer their phones whenever called.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, ADC (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal, ADC (Jagraon) Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, all SDMs, District Revenue Officer Mrs Savita, besides officials from different departments.
