Vice-Chancellor Panjab University presided over the International Conference at UBS, Ludhiana
Ludhiana, June 27, 2019: University Business School, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana organized an International Conference on Paradigm Shift in Banking (ICPSB-2019) in its campus. Around 50 Research papers were presented in the conference by delegates across the nation. Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh Presided over the event. Sh.Mukul Knitkar, National Organizing Secretary, Bharteeya Shikshan Mandal graced the occasion as Chief Guest for Inaugural Session whereas Prof. B.K. Kuthiala, Chairman, State Higher Education Council, Haryana were the Chief Guest for Valedictory session. Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Director of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Haryana were also present as Guest of Honour in the Valedictory Session.
Keynote address was delivered by Sh. Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai and Dr. Monika Kansal from Central Queensland University, Melbourne, Australia. The Inaugural session began with PU anthem. Prof. Ravi Inder Singh, Director, PU Regional Centre, Ludhiana welcomed the guests and while introducing the conference theme said that objective of organizing this conference was to provide a platform to the researchers, academicians and practitioners to share their knowledge and research findings about the innovations taking place in this industry and the future banking industry scenario in the light of emerging developments.
A book entitled “Researches on Paradigm Shift” was released on the occasion which comprised of selected research papers submitted for presentation in the conference. Prof. Raj Kumar while delivering his presidential address, congratulated the institute for organizing this conference on quite a relevant theme. He said that in previous six months or so UBS, Ludhiana has organized number events to strengthen the academic industry interface with local industry. He praised the way PU Regional Centre, Ludhiana is working and excelling in different domains of teaching and research.
Chief Guest Sh. Mukul Knitkar during addressing the participants talked about importance of banking sector in overall growth of an economy. Starting from history of business in India, he talked about latest developments in industry practices in India and abroad. He emphasized on need for research on social and cultural capital. He further coined the idea of replacing the concept of GDP with GNC i.e. Gross National Contribution.
Sh. A.K. Chaudhary, CGM, RBI Mumbai during his keynote address talked about different dimensions of change taking place in economy leading to change in the way banking sector functions. He highlighted Fin-tech as one of major such change and talked about the risks associated with it also. He stressed that in present time, banks need to be proactive
Second keynote address was delivered by Dr. Monika Kansal, Central Queensland University, Australia. She spoke about challenges in being faced by banking industry in India and Australia; and potential solutions from practitioners and researchers.Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development council, Panjab University, Chandigarh were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour for the Valedictory session. They congratulated the organizers for success of event and inviting such wonderful speaker. Dr. Ashish Saihjpal, Co-ordinator (MBA) proposed vote of thanks. Event was concluded with national anthem.
