Various breed of Dogs participated in Dog at Science

Kapurthala, January 22, 2017: Dogs have earned distinction of being man’s best friends. Dog have not only offered love and affections, but worked side by side with their human counter part for centuries. With an incredible sense of smell, dog can smell thing 10 thousand times greater than human can. A well trained sniffer dog is used in detection explosives, illegal drug, theft and various other crimes . These views were expressed by Brigader.R Panicker Station commander Kapurthala on occasion of 3rd Dog show at Science City.
Further he said that, dogs are playing an important role in human life . Dogs have been contributing in different fields, like hunting, protection assisting police and Military , Companionship, Aiding handicaps individual, space and medical research. It is well known Laika (dog) became the first animal to orbit around the earth.
On this occasion, Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director Science City, shared his view on importance of dog in the society and plays an important role in human civilization and culture . Further he said that the World Canine Organization is the largest registry of dog breeds in the world. It recognizes 339 breeds of dogs divided into 10 groups. Several breeds like the Caravan Hound, Raja palayam Hound, Rampur Hound, Venjari Hound, Santal Hound, Indian Mastiff, Indian Pariah Dog, Himalayan Sheep Dog, Bullu Kutta etc are indigenous breeds. Further he said, In order to provide information to general masses about this important gene pool, Pushpa Gujral Science City (PGSC), Kapurthala has brought the souvenir at 5th and 6th Dog Show on its premises. Dr. R. Sharam Ex Director Science City was also Present on this occasion.
Further he, said that, all-breed open Dog Show at its premises will bring awareness amongst general masses about domesticated biodiversity and salient features with a focus on various breeds of dogs.
Over 100 entries, 150 dogs comprising 40 breeds participated in the dog show held at Science City. Owners from, Punjab and other states exhibited their pets and their skills during the show. Ring No 1 First prize has been achieved Rottweiler , second prize clinched prize by Boxer and third prize also goes to Rottweiler . Ring No II Rott weiler got first prize, Gereman Shaffer received second prize and Boxer became third
