MORE THAN 2094 ARMYMEN TAKE PART IN CELEBRATIONS
Jalandhar, June 21, 2017: A mega Yoga Camp was organised to commemorate the “Third International Yoga Day” on 21 Jun 2017 for all ranks stationed at Jalandhar Garrison under the Vajra Corps. Yogasanas (postures) and ‘pranayam’ were practiced in symphony as per the Common Yoga Protocol laid down by the Ministry of AYUSH. As many as 2094 Army personnel participated in the event with huge fervour & gusto.

The objective of the Yoga session organized by Vajra Corps was to provide an insight into the traditional basis of Yoga and its relevance in the present day context of high stress and demanding military service. The participants comprised officers, JCOs and jawans from the Jalandhar Cantonment.

Yoga, emphasizes flexibility, enhancing the mental agility, physical stamina and steadfastness of soldiers. Yoga, therefore, fits perfectly with the military’s emphasis on mental robustness and physical agility, to hone the overall personality of Army soldiers. The many benefits of Yoga especially for soldiers has motivated the Army to adopt Yoga practice into its regular fitness curriculum.
