UUE not in favour of bicycle industry: UCPMA

Ludhiana, May 24, 2017: There is a new trend going on in this industrial city. There are few industrialists who are renting out portion of their factory premises to overcome the losses they occur due to one or another reason. And this thing is annoying the authorities of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) because this kind of practice by the industrialists is considered as Unauthrorised Use of Electricity (UUE).
The issue was taken up at a meeting of the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers (UCPMA), Ludhiana held here today. Addressing the meeting, the UCPMA president Charanjeet Singh Vishivkarma said Ludhiana was Manchester of bicycle industry but today industry was facing a burning issue of Unauthrorised Use of Electricity (UUE). He added as the electricity connection was provided for the whole factory but few factory owners gave their half or more portion on rent.
Vishivkarma added during checking by flying squad of PSPCL, the flying squad team used to impose heavy penalty on the factory owner concerned accusing him of indulging into the practice of UUE. He added the small Industrial consumers suffered a lot due to the same, he said. He brought all these facts to the notice of Kuldeep Singh Vaid, Congress MLA from Gill assembly constituency who was present at the meeting and demanded for abolition of these charges. He said the factory owner concerned should be charged at normal power tariff. He also requested MLA to get arrange a meeting with Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister, Punjab for sorting out this issue with PSPCL authorities.
The UCPMA had held its meeting for distributing subsidy of Euro-Bike Show-2016. On the occasion, Kuldeep Singh Vaid, MLA and Major Singh, Director, MSME-DI, Ludhiana distributed subsidy cheques worth Rs.36,000 each to 22 industrialists who had visited Friedrichshafen, Germany in the year 2016.
Present on the occasion included Inderjit Singh Navyug, Rajinder Singh Papu, Rajinder Singh Sarhali (Prop. Secretary), Achhru Ram Gupta (Finance Secretary), Jaswinder Singh Thukral, Surinder Singh Mapco, Gurcharan Singh Mankoo, Eqbal Singh Sonu, Satinderjit Singh Autom, Walaiti Ram, Manmohan Singh Ubhi, Hemraj Kapila, Nahar Singh, Rajinder Singh Dewan, Amarjit Singh Frantier, Jaswinder Singh Birdi, Iqbal Singh Behal and Kundal Lal.
