Uttar Pradesh files hit digital button

Lucknow, July 5 (IANS) In a significant development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Saturday started "paperless" office in the state government by clearing an IT and electronics department file with a digital signature.

On the occasion, he also used the "e-office" application developed by the National Informatics Centre.

Akhilesh told divisional commissioners and district magistrates to periodically review the progress of this interface with regard to various schemes and projects undertaken by the state government.

He said it should be ensured that unnecessary and cumbersome procedures faced by people are cut short and redressal of their problems expedited.

Further, he said there should be no roadblock in providing important services and information like issuing of certificates, etc to people through the new system.

Principal Secretary to the chief minister, Rakesh Garg said Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country where the said digital system has been developed and implemented in record time.

Principal Secretary, IT and Electronics, Jeevesh Nandan said age-old problems like files getting lost or getting torn will be a thing of the past. He said all files will now be stored safely in the "state data centre".

Nandan also said the "state data centre" has been developed on the virtualisation concept and established on ultra-modern cloud computing system.

Back up of all the files will be routinely done. With disaster recovery site, the state will have no tension of losing data in case of any emergency.
