UPDATED: PCMS doctors withdraw strike
Ludhiana, November 27, 2014: The PCMS-SDA has withdrawn its scheduled strike to be started on the 28th of November.
The decision to this effect was taken after having an assurance by the Health Minister Punjab Surjeet Kumar Jayani to PCMS-SDA state president Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal and Ludhiana district President Dr. Avinash Jindal that they would be given a tolerant hearing considering their genuine demands in the Ludhiana case. The PCMS doctors have also informed that the government doctors have decided to call off the strike in larger public interest.
The doctors informed that they apprised Health Minister Surjeet Kumar Jayani that doctors in Civil Hospitals are overburdened with meager Para medical staff to assist and the infrastructure is also not comparable to big private hospitals. The doctors also informed that the Health minister Surjeet Kumar Jayani has also called them in a meeting at Chandigarh in the coming days to solve their other long pending demands
"The work load is remarkably high, not only this, we are dealing with poorest section of society and very sick patients, those who cannot avail any health facility outside.” “We have requested the Health Minister to keep everything in mind while deciding the President case. He has assured us that full justice would be given.  So, we withdraw the Strike," Dr. Avinash Jindal, district president, PCMS-SDA said
