Ludhiana, October 12, 2013: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari today greeted people on the eve of Dussehra. He prayed
that may this festival usher in a new period of joy, celebrations and festivity in the people’s life.
In his message to the people, Tewari pointed out, this festival marks the triumph of Lord Rama who fought for the righteousness over the
evil king Ravan. He said, this festival also reminds us and reaffirms in us the firm belief that no matter how strong and powerful the evil
may be ultimately it is the good which has to triumph over the evil.
The Minister said the message of this festival holds much importance today when there are evil forces which are trying to raise their head.
“We need to defeat those forces and always follow the path of righteousness even if it may be a difficult path because the victory will always be that of the right over the wrong”, he said.
Meanwhile, Partap Singh Bajwa President Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) today felicitated people on eve of Dussehra, the festival of victory over evil. He also wished happy Durga Puja.
In a message, Bajwa said that Ravana was a symbolic of evil and lust but in today's world people have to fight Ravana at every turn of life. They wished people of Punjab get rid of social and political evils surrounding them. He called upon people to stand against all evils and work to promote goodwill in the society. He said that Ravana was a learned personality but arrogance and lust prevailed over his wisdom.  
He wished people peace, happiness and harmony in life on this occasion. He said that people must celebrate the occasion with fervor and gaiety. He said that such festivals are an opportunity to build bridges between communities and eliminate hatred.

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal today greeted the people of the country on the sacred occasion of Durga Puja and Dussehra (Vijaydashmi).
In a message, the Chief Minister said that these two festivals, which symbolize the victory of good over evil, remind us of our rich cultural heritage. He said that our nation has an age old tradition of celebrating both these festivals which play a vanguard role in promoting goodwill, peace and communal harmony in the society besides showing us the way of ideal living to carve out an egalitarian and harmonious society.
The Chief Minister appealed the people to collectively celebrate this joyous occasion by rededicating themselves for promotion of peace, amity and brotherhood in the state.
