UNCTAD to set up centre in Kolkata: Mamata

Kolkata, July 31 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday said UNCTAD will set up a centre of excellence in entrepreneurship training in Kolkata.

"United Nation's leading agency, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has announced to set up a centre for excellence in entrepreneurship training in Kolkata in association with EMPRETEC and our state government," she posted on her official Facebook page.

"This centre will be the first of its kind in the world, connecting not only all the states of India, but also the developing and developed nations, to nurture and handhold entrepreneurship," said the Trinamool Congress chief.

In addition to provision for training, education, skill development, the centre will facilitate access to finance aspiring entrepreneurs.

"This initiative would help to create young entrepreneurs, thereby more jobs and give economic activity in the region a significant boost," she said.
