Chandigarh, March 28, 2019: University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with London School of Management Education is organizing the first of its kind UN PRME Workshop on Education for Responsible Leadership & Research on 29th, March 2019 at 2:30 PM at UIFT premises.
This workshop is being held in context of UN Sustainable Development Goals with an objective to sensitize students who are the future drivers of a sustainable global economy. It aims at developing inclusive capabilities of sustainable values needed for society and business at large.
Professor Peter Gray from LSME will be available on Video Talk to share his expertise in Responsible Governance in Research on the 6 UN Principles
“The purpose of this workshop is to sensitize students to undertake conceptual and empirical research to enhance their understanding about role, dynamics and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable, social, environmental and economic value,” said Dr. Rita Kant, senior faculty member at UIFT & VD.
Workshop Convener of the Workshop and former Chairperson, Department of Statistics, Panjab University Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, shall speak on ‘Sustainable Leadership and Success Stories’. Prof S.K. Chadha from the University Business School (UBS) will talk about ‘Case Studies highlighting great leadership and sustainability models of organizations and individuals’. Dr Amandeep Marwaha said he would be focussing on Industry Partnership for Research /Projects.
UN PRME ideology persuades educational institutions to create a framework of academic activities, curricula, and organizational practices with values of global social responsibility incorporated in the system for effective learning leading to responsible leadership amongst students. It encourages educators, students, business, government, consumers, media, civil society organizations and other interested groups and stakeholders into a dialogue on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability.
“This is an excellent initiative to encourage students to take up common ventures with corporations and businesses for the purpose of jointly exploring effective approaches to meet challenges faced in handling social and environmental responsibilities,” said Dr. Prabhdip Brar, Chairperson, UIFT & VD.

Weekly programme of Music “Swar Sankalp” organized
Chandigarh: Weekly programme of Music “Swar Sankalp” was organized in the Department of Music, Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today. In this programme, students (Maninder Singh, Rishutosh Sareen, Karan Sharma, Rakhi) performed and accompanied on tabla by Dr. M.P. Sharma, Sh. Anil Kumar Sharma and on harmonium by Sh. Rakesh Kumar.
At the end, the Chairperson of the Department Dr. Neelam Paul audience and
encouraged all the research scholars to keep participating in in such programmes with enthusiasm.
PU-CET (U.G.) date rescheduled
Chandigarh: This is for the information of the candidates in particular and public in general that Panjab University has rescheduled the date of entrance test for PU-CET (U.G.) Entrance Test-2019 i.e. from 28th April 2019 to 30th April 2019. The Online Application Form and Prospectus for the PU-CET (U.G.) is also made available from 5th April 2019.
