UGI organised seminar to aware residents about organ donation transplantation

Mohali, October 12, 2019: Universal Group of Institutions organised seminar on Organ Donation Transplantation. Chief Guest at the moment was Dr.Amit Sharma Nephrologist Fortis Hospital Mohali.
The main objectives of the seminar were to promote the awareness and knowledge regarding organ donation transplantation and to endanger a greater willingness amongst audience to donate their organs and tissue.
Dr.Amit Sharma was key note speaker at the moment, who provided information about kidney disease and organ donation like eyes, brain, liver, lungs and pancreas. He also informed that one person’s donation of organs could save up to eight lives. Corneas could give sight to two people whereas tissue could heal up to 75 people. Later, students were also informed about Haemodialysis, Blood grouping, Myths and reality related to organ donation.
While speaking at the moment Dr.Gurpreet Singh, Chairman, UGI said that such seminars rendered the pragmatic information to students. This seminar enhanced the overall view regarding organ donation transplantation. He further informed that organ donation saves lives, yet people are reluctant to consider donating because of persistent inaccurate information about how the process works. Some people are hesitant because of negative connotations surrounding organ donation that are simply not true.
