UGC Training School for Pharmacy professionals commenced on Monday at UIPS, PU, Chandigarh. 

Chandigarh, February 10, 2015: UGC Training School for Pharmacy professionals commenced on Monday at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (UIPS), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh. The prestigious 15th UGC training school programme is being conducted on the theme of “Emerging Tools and Techniques in Pharma Research and Innovation”.

As many as fifteen entry level pharmacy teachers and researchers have been selected for training from eight different states of India. 

Head Ophthalmology & Former Dean, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, Padmashri Professor Amod Gupta was the Chief Guest at the inauguration function. PU Registrar Col. Guljit Singh Chadha (Retd.) was the Guest of Honour.

Citing several case studies out of his enormous experience in ophthalmology, Prof Amod Gupta stressed upon the need to develop drug delivery solutions for safe, effective, cost-effective, and patient-compliant therapeutic outcomes.

PU Registrar Col. Chadha enumerated on the innovative technological solutions to address the changing patient needs.

Earlier, Joint Coordinator of this training school, Prof Anil Kumar briefed the participants about the course contents and highlighted the significance of research in pharmaceutical sciences.

Chairperson, UIPS & Programme Coordinator, UGC-NRC Prof Bhupinder Singh Bhoop gave the presidential remarks and highlighted the accomplishments of UGC-NRC so far.

Subsequent to the inaugural session Professor & Head, Govt Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, Prof C. S. Gautam stressed upon the Ethical Issues in Research (Fraud & Misconduct), Head, HKEs College of Pharmacy, Gulbarga Prof K Purushotham Rao made the audience aware on the Concepts of Pharma Research for Innovative Schemes. Dr Kaisar Raza and Dr Satyam Agarwal, organized a workshop on nanostructured systems and confocal microscopy in the afternoon session.
