The UCPMA president Gurmeet Singh Kular greets the Railway Minister, Pawan Bansal at Ludhiana on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, February 21, 2013: A delegation of United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Ludhiana met with the Union Minister of Railways under the Presidentship of. Gurmeet Singh Kular here on Wednesday and apprised him of the problems being faced by the people.

The minister was apprised that people have to face problems regarding the reservation due to shortage of reservation counters. He was requested that at least five more new reservation counters be started in different place of Ludhiana city so that people may not have to stand in long queues for hours.

The minister was also informed that with the passing of time the population of city has increased exorbitantly with the result the traffic problem has become a headache for the administration. The people specially the industrialists residing in Sarabha Nagar, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Agar Nagar who have their units in focal points have to face very awkward situation because they have to cross two railway crossing of Ferozepur and Dhuri railway lines which remains almost closed and they will have to wait for hours to cross them on express way on Sidhwan Canal. In order to overcome this difficulty, it was requested that a flyover should be constructed on these railway lines so that people may have a sigh of relief.

The minister was informed that due to the incoming of migrant labour from Bihar and UP into the city, the city railway station remained congested that causes hindrance to the people who have to board trains. It was suggested that the trains coming from UP and Bihar side should be  stopped at Dhandari Railway Station so that general public should have a sigh of relief in this respect. It was also suggested that Dhandari railway station should be modernised with all facilities.

The minister was asked to start the new nonstop Shtabadi Express from Ludhiana to Delhi because there is no air connectivity to people.
