Speaking on the announcement of the first edition of WasTe & SaniTech India , Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “India, being one of the most populated countries in the world as well as one of the most rapidly developing countries, is the source of humongous amount of waste per annum, be it the municipal solid waste, hazardous waste, biomedical waste or e-waste. Access to sanitation and waste services in India remain meagre, with only 40% of Indians having access to improved sanitation facilities and wastewater treatment. Needless to say, weak sanitation has significant health costs and untreated sewage from cities is the single biggest source of water resource pollution in India. With thiscomes a need to overcome the demons of poor sanitation and address health issues by creating awareness about the significance of the waste and sanitation. Against this landscape, UBM India’s initiative in launching Waste and Sanitech India will further help build awareness as well as provide the most comprehensive platform to companies from this industry to showcase their products, latest technologies and innovations and establish their brand in the environmental sector. This initiative also aims to align with our Honourable Prime Minister’s vision and the national flagship programme of the Central government, Swacch Bharat Abhiyan”.
