New Delhi, August 1, 2014: The Special Judge for CBI cases, Mumbai has convicted Sh. Eknath Lad, the then Sub-Divisional Engineer and S Bhagwat Kumar Shrivastava, the then Divisional Engineer, both of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (M.T.N.L) and sentenced them to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment with total fine of Rs.1,20,000.
CBI had registered case against Ekanath Lad SDE; Bhagwat Kumar Shrivastava.DE and others on 27-7-2000 U/s. 120-B, r/w.420,420,467,468 & 471 IPC abd sec.13(2) r/w. 13(1) (d) of PC Act-1988 for abusing their official position in the award & execution of “Reinstatement Work” contract. The accused cheated the M.T.N.L Mumbai to the tune of Rs. 16.5 Lakhs (approx).
After investigation, charge sheet was filed on 27-8-2003 in the court of Special Judge, Mumbai against Shri Eknath Lad, then SDE & Shri Bhagwat Kumar Shrivastava, then DE.
The Trial Court found above two accused guilty and convicted them.
