New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) Two engineering students were killed and four of their classmates injured when their car jumped a road divider and collided with an oncoming car, police said Thursday.

The incident took place around 11.20 p.m. Wednesday near Mayur Vihar Phase-I Metro station in east Delhi when the driver lost control over the car.

"After jumping the divider, the car collided with another car heading towards Mayur Vihar," said a police official.

The six engineering students, all in their 20s, were returning to Delhi from Noida.

The other car's occupants, a couple and a child, suffered only minor injuries, said the official.

All the injured were rushed to three different hospitals.

Vishal and Ujjwal succumbed to their injuries at a hospital while their four friends are being treated.

Samarthya, who was driving the car, told police that he suddenly lost control over the vehicle which led to the accident.

The condition of one of the victims - identified as Neeraj - is said to be critical.

Police said all the victims stay in Delhi's Indraprastha Extension area and are pursuing engineering from a private college in the capital.
