Two held in Delhi with heroin worth Rs.12 crore

New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) Two men, members of an inter-state narcotics syndicate, were arrested with three kg heroin valued at over Rs.12 crore in the international market, police said Thursday.

Murad and Babu, both aged 30 and residents of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, were arrested with the contraband in two areas of east Delhi.

Babu was apprehended Tuesday afternoon near Khajuri Khas in east Delhi with the heroin meant to be delivered to another person, while Murad was arrested from Bhajanpura in east Delhi Tuesday night.

"Babu disclosed that he has been supplying heroin in Delhi from Uttar Pradesh for the last two years and also working as a carrier of heroin on the directions of Murad," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav said.

Murad came to Delhi and handed over the consignment of heroin to Babu, directing him to deliver it to a receiver, the official said.

Murad told interrogators that he has supplying drugs in Delhi from Rampur for the last three years.

"He revealed the name of another person, Arasi, a resident of Rampur, who provides him the drugs," the official said.

A special cell team of police officials has been sent to Rampur to locate Arasi.
