Two day Symposium on Emerging Trends in Telecommunication at PU

Chandigarh, November 12, 2014: Two-day symposium on “Emerging Trends in Telecommunication and IT” started today at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Panjab University (PU). The symposium is being organized by Department of IT, University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET) under TEQIP-II.  

Chief Information Security Officer and IT Advisor, Government of Haryana,  Sastry
Tumuluri inaugurated the symposium. Director UIET, Prof Renu Vig motivated the students to go for research and encouraged them to explore the technology and use it for the welfare of society. 

The symposium aims at discussing and sensitising the audience with latest technologies in the fields of telecommunication & IT. Around seventy Faculty and Research scholars will participate and interact with the experts and eminent speakers from academia and industry in their lectures.

In his keynote address,  Sastry Tumuluri explained the three principle model of
consumption, production and engagement. This model exploits the huge amount of
information freely available on internet and the ease of access to that information. He
also gave an insight into various emerging areas like Telecom industry, Bandwidth
Utilization Management, Cyber-Security,  Cloud Computing Power grids for the engineers and researchers to setup there carrier in these fields.

The rest of the sessions were conducted by Assistant Professor UIET, ‘Dr. Monika
Randhawa’, Director Central Placement Cell, PU, Dr. S.K. Chadha, CEO, Arcadian,
Technocrats Navdeep Singh Gill on the first day. 

Lt. Gen. Vijay Oberoi, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Retd. Vice Chief of Army Staff, would deliver expert talk on topic “Building Nation and Youth” on November 13 at 9.30 AM. Lt. Col. Ashokan will speak on carrier options in Indian Army.
