As many as 108 budding players (71 boys and 37 girls) from all over the state participate in the trials for the Speed Fund Scheme at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, February 26, 2013: As many as 108 budding players (71 boys and 37 girls) from all over the state were participated in the trials for the Speed Fund Scheme at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana as stated by Kartar Singh Sehamby, District Sports Officer, Ludhiana. 

The games included in these trials were Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Cycling, Gymnastics (Artistic and Rhythmic), Judo, Lawn Tennis Table Tennis, Weight Lifting and Wrestling.

As many as 55 players have been chosen by the experts of different committees constituted by Punjab sports Department for the final selection.

The selected stuff will get Rs. 5,500 per month per player for diet, equipments, education, medical and transportation etc. and will be placed at the sports centre equipped with all modern facilities of their own choice in the state. They also will get facility to participate in all National and International competitions and a sum of Rs. 10,000 yearly for their kit.

Punjab Sports Department is also going to conduct trials for various school wings from and academies from March 1  to 7 at Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Bathinda where selected players will get a sum of Rs. 100 for Day Scholars and Rs. 200 for the residential wings.
