Chandigarh, July 25, 2019: It was one of the rare occasions at Alumni House today when around 30 number of Professors Emeriti got together to plant 105 trees at the invitation of Prof.Deepti Gupta, Dean Alumni Relations.
The group were happy to be together and called it a historic occasion because only once before had they got together at one venue. Two former Vice Chancellors Prof.M.M.Puri and Prof.R.P. Bambah were extremely happy to see the development of Alumni House under the care of Professor Anil Monga and Prof.Deepti Gupta. Every Professor selected a tree from among a sapling and planted every sapling with their own hand.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU in his address called them a vulnerable Gurus of the University and said that the occasion is a symbolic one as all these Professors were responsible for the growth of wonderful tree of PU.
Prof. Shankarji Jha, Dean University of Instructions graced the occasion and greeted everyone. By turns, each eminent personality shared his or her thoughts with the gathering.
Those present included Prof. Suman Bala Beri, Prof. B.S.Brar, Prof. S.V.Kessar, Prof. Jitendra Mohan, Prof. Indu Banga, Prof. Virendra Kumar, Prof. Pam Rajput, Prof. Akhtar Mehmmod, Dr. Mahindra Kumar, Rani Balbir Kaur. Many senior officials from PU were also present on the occasion.
