Tree plantation campaign organized by KVK Samrala
Ludhiana, September 18, 2019: Under the guidance of Dr.S.C.Sharma, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samrala organized a Tree Plantation awareness programme in collaboration with IFFCO recently in which about 100 farmers participated.
Manjeet Kaur, Member, Board of Management, PAU was the Guest of Honour of the occasion. Dr.Sharma welcomed the guests and farmers. He urged the farmers to save environment by planting more and more trees. He also stressed upon the need to save water by adopting various water saving techniques.
Dr.Sharma urged the farmers to avoid use of single use plastic and keep their surroundings clean. Avneet Kaur Assistant Professor (Horticulture) made the farmers aware about the importance of tree plantation to beautify the surrounding environment and discussed in detail the methodology of planting evergreen and fruit trees, medicinal plants and forest trees.
During the Kisan Ghosti, queries of the farmers regarding various agriculture related issues were discussed. Dr.Harshneet Singh AP (Soil Science) answered various queries related to crops and appealed the farmers to adopt the PAU recommended varieties and technologies. Mr. Gurinder Singh representative of IFFCO Khanna area elaborate about their products available at village cooperative societies. Er. Karun Sharma discussed about rain water harvesting unit and crop residue management techniques. Method of tree plantation was also demonstrated at KVK Samrala for the farmers.
At the end of the programme KVK distributed fruit plants (Mango, papaya, Guava, Kagzi lemon) and forestry plants (Neem, Moringa, Bottle Brush, Sukhchain) to the farmers.
