Ludhiana, May 12, 2017: Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana is organizing a two week training programme on “Specialized Dairy farming” from 15.05.2017 to 26.05.2017. Dr.Rajesh Kasrija, Technical coordinator of the course informed that, deliberations on latest nutritional and health management; housing; effective first aid management; vaccination; deworming; breed improvement; value addition of milk; reproductive and seasonal management will be made during this training. Trainees will be imparted theoretical, as well as practical know-how of dairy farming and hands-on-practice on recording basic vital parameters like rectal temperature, respiration rate; restraining, weight of animals and milk testing will be made.

Dr S K Kansal, Professor and Head, of Dept. said that Veterinary varsity is organizing training programmes round the year for livestock farmers, which can prepare a trainee to become good entrepreneur in the field of Dairy, Poultry, Goat, Pig or Fish farming. He also informed that Veterinary University also publishes books and magazines for livestock farmers in Punjabi, Hindi and English. Dr. H. K. Verma, Director Extension Education, GADVASU said that, diversification of livestock sector is moving at a very fast pace, where in, the Veterinary University is always working to improve the socio-economic status of the livestock owners by providing them with recent inputs. He advised farmers to take the knowledge via such type of courses before venturing in to livestock faming. Dr Y S Jadoun and Dr Ravdeep Singh, coordinators of the training programme, informed that, for getting admission in this course, farmer has to fill a form first, which can be obtained from Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education or downloaded from Veterinary University website; www.gadvasu.in. The seats are reserved for those farmers who had already filled registration form and fresh applications will be considered, if seats remain vacant.
