TRAINING PROGRAMME ON CULTIVATION OF AROMATIC AND SPICE CROPS FOR FARMERS

Ludhiana, March 21, 2017: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib was organized a training programme on Cultivation of Aromatic and Spice Crops in association with department of agronomy PAU, Ludhiana at village Badhauchhi Kalan on March 20. More than 75 farmers from the village Badhoushi Kalan and nearby villagers participated in this training programme. Dr.Vipan Kumar Rampal, Deputy Director (Trg) KVK welcomed the Head and scientists of Department of Agronomy and the farmers and he elaborated the scope of cultivation of these crops in district Fatehgarh Sahib. Dr.Thakur Singh discussed about importance of aromatic and spice crop in the presence scenario in agriculture and how the farmers can minimize their expenditure in agriculture. Dr. Buta Singh guided the farmers for the cultivation of spices and aromatics. Dr.Paramjeet Kaur gave a lecture on cultivation of Lemon grass and Citronella. Mrs. Reet Verma discussed about insect and disease management in these crops. Dr. Amandeep Singh Brar gave detail lecture on cultivation of two important crops i.e. Mentha & Turmaric, he also told the farmers about processing of turmeric. Dr.SS Walia gave a lecture on profitable cropping system for aromatic and spice crops. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Deputy Director (Trg.) also discussed the Front line demonstration on summer moong SML 832. An exhibition of various latest techniques, sale of seed of fodder Maize, Bajra and Vegetables seed kits, solar gadgets for the benefits of farmers was put up during the camp. The medicinal plants and turmeric kits were also distributed to the trainees. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by S. Parvinder Singh, village Sarpanch of Badhoshi Kalan who thanked all the experts for providing valuable inputs to the farmers.
