Ludhiana, October 30, 2017: A two-day training course on “Mushroom Cultivation” concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The Directorate of Extension Education and the Department of Microbiology, PAU, had conducted the course under the guidance of Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education. The horticulture development officers, district extension specialists and scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras participated in the course.
The Course Coordinator, Dr T.S.Riar said the trainees were familiarized with the mushroom growing, its management and marketing.
Dr Shammi Kapoor, Head, Department of Microbiology, informed the trainees about the importance and production of mushrooms in Punjab. Stating that it is a profitable occupation, he appealed to the trainees to transfer the knowledge to all the farmers of the state for their prosperity.
Dr H.S. Sodhi, technical coordinator, explained the cultivation of paddy straw mushroom and dhingri.
Dr Kulvir Kaur, Assistant Professor of Extension Education, coordinated the visit of the trainees to different departments of PAU.
