Ludhiana, May 16, 2015: A five-day training programme on “Export Potential and Procedures” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday. A total of 28 extension functionaries from State agriculture and allied departments participated.
During inaugural session, Dr H. S. Dhaliwal, Director PAMETI, said the focus on export of agricultural produce will not only pave way for future agricultural development but will also benefit the farmers in terms of higher income, more opportunities, less dependency on middlemen and ultimately upliftment of their living standards.
Ms Rupinder Kaur, Deputy Director-HRM, explained the course content to the participants and briefly discussed different aspects related to exports.
Mr Vinod Kaul, DGM (retd.), APEDA, New Delhi highlighted the potential of exports for various agricultural products and role of APEDA in this.
Mr Narinder Prabhakar, Custom Broker and Consultant from Ludhiana explained the export procedure and central excise clearance formalities.
Dr D.C. Rajak, Joint Director, Regional Plant Quarantine Station, Amritsar discussed sanitary and phytosanitary measures.
Mr Dheeraj Goyal from Central Bank of India, Ludhiana discussed currency risk management in international trade. During the programme, an exposure visit to Container Freight Station (CFS), GRFL, Ludhiana was also organized where Mr SS Katiyar, Additional Commissioner (Customs) interacted with the participants and answered their queries regarding exports. Another visit to Namdhari Seed Farm, Baini Sahib, Ludhiana was also conducted where trainees got firsthand experience related to export of agricultural produce.
