The photograph taken during a training course on Healthy Nursery Raising and Protected Cultivation of Vegetable Crops held from November 25-29 at KVK Nurmahal, Jalandhar. The event was organised by Department of Vegetable Science, PAU, Ludhiana in collaboration with KVK, Nurmahal Jalandhar.
Ludhiana, December 1, 2014: Department of Vegetable Science, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nurmahal Jalandhar organised a training course on Healthy Nursery Raising and Protected Cultivation of Vegetable Crops from November 25-29 at KVK Nurmahal, Jalandhar. A total of 51 participants attended the training. Course director Dr. Major Singh Dhaliwal, Head, Department of Vegetable Science, PAU highlighted the importance and scope of healthy nursery raising and protected cultivation of vegetable crops. He also emphasised to grow vegetables in kitchen garden for home consumption free from pesticidal residue. Course co-ordinator Dr. Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Sr. Extension Specialist imparted training on cultivation of capsicum, indeterminate tomato, cucumber and brinjal in net/poly net house. The technology is useful for safe vegetable production, to get higher yield, prolonged fruiting span and quality produce which fetches premium piece in the market.
Exposure visit of trainees was also conducted at PAU, Ludhiana to demonstrate them the latest production technologies of protected cultivation and healthy nursery raising. Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Deputy Director Training KVK, Nurmahal highlighted the role of KVK in training programme. Moreover, technical lectures on healthy nursery raising and low tunnel cultivation of capsicum cucumber and brinjal etc. were also delivered by the experts.
