Traders’ associations staged dharna in support of demands

Jalandhar, January 27, 2014: Various traders’ associations on Monday staged a dharna infront of the residence of former Punjab minister Manoranjan Kalia, MLA, in support of their demands.
Protestors shouted slogans, seeking acceptance of their demands. They were demanding among other things that the state government should simplify VAT, review Advance VAT, reduce property tax on commercial buildings.
Earlier, the traders’ associations had withdrawn their agitation after assurance from senior BJP leaders but today they decided to hold the protest.
