SRINAGAR, JUNE 25, 2017: The J&K Tourism Department has expressed deep shock over the death of seven people, including four domestic tourists in a tragic Cable Car accident at Gulmarg today.
Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah has described the incident a very unfortunate which happened due to felling of a tree over the ropeway. He reached the accident site and personally supervised the rescue process, provided necessary assistance to the stranded tourists.

Giving details of the incident, the Director Tourism said that it happened due to the heavy winds, which uprooted the tree that later fell on ropes between tower number 7 & 8 of the Cable Car Project. One cabin got derailed from its pully and crashed down resulting into the tragic death of seven people.
Mr. Shah said the administration has made necessary efforts to take back the cabin, fixed the ropes and ferried stranded tourists back to Gulmarg bowl.
The Travel, Trade and Hospitality sector has also grieved over the tragic incident and extended their sympathies with the bereaved families.

Governor expresses grief over loss of lives in accident at Gulmarg
Governor N.N. Vohra has expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives in an unfortunate accident at the Gulmarg tourist resort.
In a message the Governor has prayed for peace to the departed souls and wished the bereaved families the strength to bear this sad loss.

Mehbooba grieved over Gulmarg Gondola accident; Announces Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia, orders high level probe
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief and shock over the tragic accident at Gulmarg today in which a tourist family of four and three local youth were killed while they were on a Gondola ride.
Mehbooba Mufti, who was herself monitoring the rescue operations,
announced ex gratia relief of Rs. Five lakh in favour of next of kin of the killed. She has also directed conducting of a high level inquiry to know of the causes or lapses, if any, that led to the accident.
The Chief Minister has also conveyed her grief and condolence to the
families of the three local youth who were also killed in the same accident.
As the news of the accident was received, team of high level officers
led by the Divisional Commissioner and other officers supervised the rescue at the spot. The bodies of the deceased are being sent to their homes while as the injured have been shifted to hospital.

Priya Sethi grieved over loss of lives in Cable Car accident
Minister of State for Tourism, Ms Priya Sethi has expressed deep shock and anguish over the death of seven people, including four tourists in a tragic Cable Car accident at Gulmarg today.
“In this hour of grief my heart goes out for the bereaved families. My heartfelt condolences are with them,” said Ms Sethi.
Praying for eternal peace for the departed souls, the Minister expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

Dy CM anguished over tragic accident at Gulmarg
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh has expressed deep anguish and sorrow over the death of seven persons, including four tourists in a tragic accident at Gulmarg Gandola site.
In a condolence message, the Deputy Chief Minister has conveyed his sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
Meanwhile, Dr. Singh has urged upon the authorities to make immediate arrangements for shifting the mortal remains of tourists to their homes and appropriate compensation to the next of the kin.

Bali, Sham condole demise of Gulmarg accident victims
Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat and Minister for PHE, Ch. Sham Lal have expressed deep anguish on the demise of seven persons, including four tourists in a tragic accident at Gulmarg Gandola site.
