Dharamshala, October 9, 2016: The toss will have no role in the India –New Zealand first ODI of the series being played at Dharamshala on 16th of October.
Stating this in HPCA Stadium today the Chief Pitch Curator Sunil Chouhan said that the Pitch here shall behave equally to both the teams through the 100 overs
He said that as this is the First day and Night ODI here the due in the night could play a vital role for the team batting second He said, “The time due factor start here its play here almost 70-80 overs of the match could have gone , so it too shall have minor effect, if so ever is there. The time recorded for due these days are between 8pm and 8.30 pm. ” The pitch shall have even bounce in the entire match .
India is starting its campaign in ODI current series from Dharamshala under the captainship of Dhoni. So far India has played two (day time) ODI matches here. The first ODI was played between India and England in January 2013, which England won by 7 wickets. The second ODI was played between India and West Indies on 17 October 2014 in which India beat the West Indies by 59 runs.
Beside this, on 21 July 2015, the BCCI announced the names of the cities which will be hosting the matches of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. Dharamshala was announced as one of the eight venues of the event. On 11th December 2015, ICC announced the fixtures of the event where HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala will host all Group A matches, and single Super 10 group match.
Originally the marquee India vs Pakistan match was scheduled to be hosted by this venue. With the announcement that HPCA could not provide the required security for the Pakistani team, the match was moved to Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The venue is unique in India in that it is situated at an altitude of 1,457 m (4,780 ft 2 in) above sea level and has the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains in the background.
