CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 6, 2017: The Punjab U-17 girls cricket team has won a Gold Medal at the 63rd National School games held at Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. The Education Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary has congratulated the team for this shining achievement.

In a statement here today, Mrs. Chaudhary said that the credit for this crowning glory goes to the hardwork of the players as well as the dedicated leadership and guidance of the coaching staff. She also congratulated the teachers and the parents of the players. She further said that the girls hailing from the State are matchless and have no peer in terms of talent. The minister also termed it as the ultimate honour for the Education Department.
Divulging more, the Sports Organiser of the Education Department Mr. Rupinder Ravi said that the U-17 team won all its 5 matches and defeated Madhya Pradesh in the final by 7 wickets besides beating Maharashtra in the semifinal by 4 wickets. He also said that Veerpal Kaur of Punjab scored a total of 199 runs and was declared the Best in terms of batting while Arshdeep Kaur with 8 was adjudged the best bowler.
