Chandigarh, July 24, 2014: The Samana-based couple working in bakery was not aware that visit to Gian Sagar Hospital with their three years old ill child will change their life forever. The hospital has treated their three years old son Manish for cancer of abdomen free of cost giving child a new life.
The team of Gian Sagar held jubilations over the child getting well and springing back to life by cutting a cake with Manish and his parents.
Senior Oncologist from USA and chairman of Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital Dr. Barjinder Singh said that the child was first examined by Harvinder Memorial Cancer Center doctors in a free medical checkup camp held in Samana in the month of November 2013. “The child had unknown origin of fever, pain in abdomen and severe constipation. Patient was advised for detail checkup at hospital,” said Dr Barjinder flanked by CEO Dr Shailender Chaudhary and General Mmanager, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital Natasha Chopra.
“We came across reports that showed mass in abdomen. The biopsy report confirmed that child was suffering from cancer of abdomen,” he added. Manish underwent seven cycles of chemotherapy. Surgery was planned after completion of seven chemo cycles, in which lymph nodes and abdominal mass was removed.
“Manish’s father works in a small bakery in Samana, while his mother is a house wife. The family had no means to get treatment. Keeping in view their weak financial condition, we decided to help him,” Dr Barjinder Singh added. Hospital gave all seven rounds of chemotherapy, which cost around Rs.21000, free of cost. The hospital charges were waived off and hospital bore cost of investigations too which was around Rs 40000. Surgery bill of Rs. 1,75,000, which after discount by hospital was Rs. 1,50,000, were born by Radha Swami Satsang members and Hospital jointly.
Teary eyed Manish’s father Gian Chand said that without hospital’s help he would not have been able to get his child treated. “We were not even aware what made him ill until the doctors at Gian Sagar Hospital have not told us,” said Gian Chand.
Dr Barjinder said that Manish’s cancer has been completely cured and now only adjuvant (Preventive) doses are being given for prevention purpose.// Chandigarh news, india news,
