One year rigorous imprisonment to two bank officials of Andhra Bank in separate cases of bribery

New Delhi/Jalandhar, September 6, 2013: The Special Judge for CBI cases, Hyderabad has convicted Javeed Ashraf, then Regional Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, Hyderabad for accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant for issuing revocation order for commencing mining operations. The accused was sentenced to undergo three years Simple Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.20,000 each for the offence U/s.7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988.  The court has also ordered that out of the total fine amount of Rs.40,000/-, Rs.10,000 is to be paid to the complainant as compensation. 

In another case, the Special Judge for CBI cases, Hyderabad has convicted  Randive Babruwan, then Assistant Manger and Sh. G. Ramulu, then Cashier, both of Andhra Bank, Lakshmapur Branch, Yellareddy Mandal, Nizamabad District (Andhra Pradesh) U/s 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 as first installment out of total amount of Rs.10,000 from the complainant for processing his insurance claim (A.B. Jeevan Abhaya Scheme and Crop Insurance Claim) with regard to the accidental death of the complainant’s father.  Both the accused were sentenced to undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.2,000 each.
