Three day Indo-French Workshop commenced at PU
Chandigarh, February 4, 2019: A three day Indo-French Workshop commenced here today at the Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event is sponsored by Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA). Prof.R.K.Kohli, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Punjab was the Chief Guest of the event. He urged the students to adopt science and apply the same in their daily lives. He also gave details about facilities available at Central University of Punjab, Bhatinda. Dr.Purnima Rupal, Director CEFIPRA in her keynote address apprised the researchers about various funding programs of CEFIPRA. She also shed light on different fellowships sponsored for students for doing joint research in India & France. Earlier, Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in his address informed that nations in term of demographic dividend are strong on the basis of Science or spirituality and it is important to use both the aspects for nation building. Prof. Joerg Aichelin, The French Coordinator of this workshop briefed about the importance of the workshop and various possibilities of Indo-French Collaboration. Prof. Navdeep Goyal, Chairman, Department of Physics, PU apprised the visitors about the department and its courses/research facilities. The Organizing Committee honored Prof. Joerg Aichelin, University of Nantes, France and Prof. Surinder K. Khosa, Central University of Jammu with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their outstanding contribution over the years in the felid of nuclear physics. This workshop will have nine technical sessions where eminent speakers, both from India and abroad, will be sharing their ideas/work and experiences and will set a path for future international cooperation and collaboration.
