Thousands participate in race for charity at 11th CT Half Marathon

Jatinder Singh in male category & Seema in female category wins XI CT Half Marathon

Jalandhar, March 11, 2018: The skies were pleasant for the annual 11th CT Half Marathon runners on Sunday morning and the enthusiasm was also bright as thousands of people participated in the race for charity. The participants from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and other states run for the noble cause at the half marathon organised by CT Group of Institutions which was flagged off by Renowned British Actress Pippa Hughes, Centenarian Marathon Runner Mann Kaur and Punjabi Singer Gurnazar at CT Shahpur Campus. In the half marathon, sports persons to senior citizens to Olympians, artists, players and also physically challenged persons joined.

After the thorough practice, under male category, Jatinder Singh with chest number 343, Jatinder Singh with chest number 272 and Vivek Kumar with chest number 159 stood first, second and third respectively. Under women category and giving full competition, Seema with chest number 299, Wahida Rahman and Arpita bagged first, second and third positions respectively. The event was huge sum of cash prize for the winners. The first prize was of Rs. 25,000 (Male & Female both), second prize was Rs. 11000 (Male & Female both), third prize was Rs. 5,100 (Male & Female both) and 7 consolation prizes of Rs. 2100.

There were the LIVE performances by leading Punjabi stars Khan Saab, Bura Purewal, Mangi Mahal, Navjeet and Youngveer at CT Maqsudan Campus. RJ Pak Pak Deepak and others celebrity Radio Jockeys from Radio Mirchi mesmerized the audience with their wonderful hosting and performances. There were dance performances by The Body Temple team as well as by the students of CT Group.

This commendable noble attempt on the part of CT Group has also encouraged the physically challenged students from Prayas (a School for Special students) and Apahaj Asharam to partake in the race. There was a special 100 m race organized for the students of ‘Prayas’ at CT Maqsudan Campus.

During previous years, this marathon had the presence of Ace Athlete S. Milkha Singh, Legendary Singer Gurdas Maan, Bollywood Actress Neha Dhupia, Renowned Singer Jazzy B, Indian and various other famous celebrities who flagged off the marathon and made their presence felt by taking part in the running spree.

Mr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions said that the raised funds will be donated to Prayas School, Pingalwara and Red Cross Society. He said, “The event has been successful from last ten years that helped us to collect funds for the deprived and needy at the same time it gives a combine platform to many for the noble cause.”

S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman, CT Group of Institutions congratulated the winners and expressed his gratitude towards everyone volunteer who have taken the event on another level of success with their support and participation.

There was first aid and other medical assistance for the runners by the students and staff members of CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CTIPS) and doctors from renowned hospitals registered their presence as well.
