Kapurthala, July 2, 2017: Under 3-day migratory pulse polio round a total 17,054 infants would be given polio drops, said civil surgeon Dr Harpreet Singh Kahlon.
On the first day today, 8409 infants of workers between age of 0-5 were given polio drops. The remaining target of immunization would be cimpleted in the next days (upto July 4).
Civil Surgeon said though polio had been eliminated from India yet there remained a fear of virus attack from neighbouring countries including Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said the department of health was completely vigilant of protecting infants of any virus attack.
District Immunization Officer Dr Harpal Kaur told that a total 390 team members had been put on duty during the 3-day campaign. She said special attention would be given in high risk areas. She said 177 teams would be covering 8 railway stations, 9 bus stands, 58 brick kilns, 70 locations of migrants and 188 shanties. The department would make all out efforts to ensure that no infant between the age of 0-5 was left without polio drops, she said.
