Technical Session on Software Testing and Security Standards

Chandigarh, March 19, 2019: A technical session on Embedded Software Testing, Verification and Validation was conducted by experts from LDRA software at University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Panjab University(PU) under the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE), PU. The session started with a presentation that consisted of major security related incidents that have occurred in the areas of avionics, medical sciences, rail transportation and cyber security. These major incidents include recent Boeing 737 Max crash, Ariane 5 Flight 501, Patriot Missile Error etc., all of which occurred due to lack of system testing. This was followed by discussion on safety and security standards by different organizations like CERT, ISO, IEC in these domains. Then the features of products capable of performing static analysis including code review, quality review and design review, dynamic analysis and unit testing were elaborated. This was followed by a technical demonstration of available software testing products. The highly interactive session was attended by faculty from UIET as well as GCET, Jammu. The event was organized by Prof. Harish Kumar, Director, CSDE, Panjab University.
