Ludhiana, November 16, 2018: A two day technical extravaganza began today at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College. The two day event will have: ‘ATHARVA’- ISTE Students convention with theme ‘Technologies for sustainable future’ and National Electrical Engineering Conference- NEEC-2018 in association with the Institution of Engineers (India). The combined inaugural session of both events was presided over by Dr.R.P.Singh Suker-Chakia, Member, Executive Committee- ISTE & IE(I)LLC also ex- principal , GNDEC Ludhiana. In his welcome address Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal, GNDEC said that Engineers of today need to be versed in variety of skills and it is events like these that help in nurturing those skills. Students from various ISTE Students chapters of the section were awarded the Best student Award .Saravpreet Singh Arora & Shriansh Bansal of GNDEC won the Best Student Award. In his address, Brig. Mastinder Singh, SM ,Guest of Honor said that students need to imbibe discipline in their lives to progress. Er. R.L. Mahajan, Chairman, IE(I) LLC said that such conferences provide platform to researchers to share & further their research interests. Dr. R.P Singh Sukerchakia in his address said that world has become dynamic and changes were becoming faster by the day. The technocrats of tomorrow need to be receptive and adaptive to be in tune with times. Giving outline of the events during the day, Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Convener informed that events like code Relay , Quantam Quarks, Roboignitors, Electroreo, promechanics, Huntmania, Tech-O-parley , Heck of Deck, Business inception & Anchor Hunt would be held today. The National seminar would have two Plenary talks along with paper presentations. Delivering vote of thanks Pf. Jaswinder Singh, HOD (EE) thanked ISTE section committee and the Institution of Engineers (India) for allotting the convention and national conference respectively.
In order to celebrate the world diabetes week Lions club Ludhiana, organized a free blood sugar test camp. Er. Varun chandok, president and Er. U.P.S.Sachdeva and other Lion members graced the occasion.
In the National Electrical Engineering Conference the first plenary talk was by Dr. Yadwinder Singh Brar, Director (Main Campus), Professor, IKGPTU, Kapurthala who dwelled on multi objective optimization techniques giving an insight into how to optimize generation / load dispatch keeping constraints in mind. In his talk Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Faculty , GNDEC, Amritsar gave an insight into making of Nano structure. He explained through flow chart process of formation of nano- structure. Two technical session with four presentation each were also held.
In the ISTE Students convention. The students show caused their coding skills in code relay. In roboignitors students made line robots. The promechanics event had students vying for making designs. The Business inception event had students presenting innovative business ideas.The Technical events will continue tomorrow also.
