Before taking credit for release of Sikh prisoners, Capt Amarinder should write to Sonia against Congressmen involved in anti-Sikh riots: Tarun Chugh
Chandigarh, September 30, 2019: Slamming Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for taking credit of resolution of Sikh issues including Black List and release of Sikh prisoners, BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh today said that if the Chief Minister was so concerned about Sikh community, he should write to AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and ask her to throw Congressmen involved in 1984 anti-Sikh riots out of the party. Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for its decisions on Black List of Sikhs and regarding long-pending demand of release of Sikh prisoners, Chugh said that Capt Amarinder Singh was indulging in a credit war on Sikh issues but was reluctant to speak up against the culprit Congressmen named by victims of anti-Sikh riots. “He is not only reluctant to speak, but even stands for them and defends their case vehemently just to please his masters in the Congress,” the BJP leader said. Before projecting himself of being a crusader on Sikh issues, Capt Amarinder needs to clear his stand on Congressmen involved in anti-Sikh riots, he said. Chugh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were trying to resolve the issues of Sikh community with sincerity but the people of the country especially Sikh community know that the resolution of long pending Sikh issues has started coming around only after Narendra Modi took over as Prime Minister. The BJP leader said that it was the Modi government which ordered the reopening of over 40 cases related to 1984 anti-Sikh riots to provide justice to a community which had lost hope as more than three decades had passed. “The Modi government has large-heartedly not only approved but facilitated the construction of Kartarpur Corridor. The government has gone a step further and not only pruned the Black List from 314 to only two but also ordered the release of Sikh prisoners languishing in the various prisons, since long,” he said. Chugh thanked Capt Amarinder for hailing the decision of Modi government but reiterated that the Chief Minister must ask Sonia Gandhi to throw out the Congressmen who led the mobs in Delhi in November, 1984 and were responsible for the brutal killings of Sikhs in the national capital and elsewhere. Reminding Capt Amarinder of 10-years of UPA rule, Chugh said, the Congress had a Sikh Prime Minister for 10 years but even then didn’t do anything to resolve the Sikh issues to assuage the feelings and meet the demands of Sikhs.
