Take hard decisions to fight against UPA

Ludhiana, September 26, 2012: The 4 day 6th All India Conference of BSNLEU held an open session yesterday evening in which Com. Tapan Sen,  MP (Rajya Sabha), Secretary General , CITU was the Chief guest.

In his address, Sen said all the unions of working class are fighting together for the last two years against the pro-private sector policies of UPA-II Government. He stated that 90 crores of people belong to the middle and poor class.

“If we fight together then the government will have to change its policies to save BSNL and other PSUs”, he said. He condemned the UPA-II government for introducing FDI in retail, hike in petroleum products and LPG thereby burdening the common man.

Adding, he said the large scale scams in public sector companies shows how the people at the helm of affairs are looting the nation along with the corporate sector. He said that instead of boosting demand by giving more income to the working class, the government is trying to tackle this crisis by bringing in more foreign capital through foreign direct investments even in such non essential areas as multi-brand retailing.

Further, he said thus, instead of boosting domestic demand, it is being argued that workers wages should be further moderated to make the Indian economy globally competitive.

Com. Chandeshwar Singh, Secretary General, NFTE-BSNL said that the unity of working class unions is a good sign for coming struggles against the government. He urged all the unions to take hard decisions to fight against the  anti-worker policies of the UPA government.

Com. Sebastin, General Secretary, SNEA (1) said that the survival of BSNL is very much essential and to stop the looting by private companies. BSNL is providing world class and cheaper services to its valuable customers.

Com. Prahlad Rai, General Secretary, AIBSNLEA congratulated BSNLEU for organising and discharging its duties in the best possible manner. He also said due to the wrong policies of the management and UPA government the BSNL is incurring the losses in crores.

He said BSNL has deposited Rs.18,500 for 3G and BWA charges with no gain. He also exhorted the workers to oppose SAM Pitroda’s anti-worker recommendations. He also stated that the management is favouring                  its officers who are not a part of BSNL and AIBSNLEA will fight against this issue. No dual policy should be implemented in BSNL and the ITS Officers should be absorbed in BSNL immediately.

Com. Raghunath Singh, General Secretary, CITU, Punjab said that the Prime Minister is dividing the country on privatisation of each and every service. He also urged to fight against the privatisation of PSU’s and other departments.

Com Singh also stated that the UPA Chairperson and her colleagures, are desperate to sell the public wealth to multinational companies by way of disinvestment. He criticised the UPA government’s anti-workers policies and the policies relating to the           unorganised sector.

Com. Jaya Prakash, General Secretary FNTO stated in his address that all the unions should join hands to struggle against the anti-worker policies of UPA government. He also assured the co-operation of FNTO to BSNLEU.
