Amritsar, May 21, 2014: Apart from approval to various appointments, starting of new courses, extension in the service of retiree teachers from two to three years, approval of 9.98 percent annual interest on the contributory / general provident fund of the university employees and approval to various Ph.D.thesis in various faculties were main agenda of the syndicate meeting of the Guru Nanak Dev University.
This syndicate meeting was held here today in the Syndicate Room of the University. Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor presided over the meeting while Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar presented the agenda.
The Syndicate also accorded its approval to the appointment of R.K. Marwaha from Law Department of Regional Campus, Jalandhar as Principal of University College, Patti (Tarn Taran) for a period of one year. Similarly, Derik Engles, retired professor from Electronics Technology Department of the University has been appointed as O.S.D., University Regional Campus, Fattu Dhinga.
Syndicate also accorded its approval in the extension of services of Dr. Sulakhan Singh and Dr. Sukhwant Singh from History Department and P.K. Sehajpal and Sukhdev Singh from Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Department for two years after their retirement.
The syndicate also approved that the services of retired teachers of the University would be extended for a period of three years in stead of two years. Necessary amendments in the University Calendar would also be made accordingly. About 42 Ph.D. Thesis under various faculties has also been approved by the Syndicate.
The members of syndicate unanimously congratulated Brar for his extension as the member of the Executive Committee of National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangaluru from April 25, 2014 for a period of another three years.
