SWISS is further expanding its sports sponsorship and involvement. The carrier has been named Official Airline of next year’s FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced that it will be the Official Airline of the 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, which will be held in St. Moritz, Southeast Switzerland, from 6 to 19 February. The announcement was made at the championships’ kick-off event on Saturday (8 October), which was co-hosted by the event’s organizers and Swiss-Ski, and which included a scenic flight over the championship venue in SWISS’s new Bombardier CS100.

SWISS’s involvement in the event will include prize draws among skiing fans for SWISS flight vouchers and admission tickets. There will also be SWISS crew members on hand at the award ceremonies in the finish area, and further SWISS flying personnel looking after the competitors in the SWISS Athletes’ Lounge. Further off-piste highlights will include spectacular overflights by SWISS aircraft. And SWISS will also be supporting the Youth Camp project of the event’s organizers by flying tomorrow’s ski stars to St. Moritz from all over the world.

“As The Airline of Switzerland, we are extremely pleased to be playing such a major part in our country’s biggest winter sports event,” says Markus Binkert, SWISS’s Chief Commercial Officer. “And through our involvement we’re determined to help take this huge international event to further heights.”

“We’re proud to have, in SWISS, such a reliable partner by our side that is sure to give our fans and our competitors so many unforgettable moments, on the ground and in the air,” adds Hugo Wetzel, the President of FIS Alpine World Ski Championships St. Moritz 2017. “And we’re delighted to see this confirmation once again that winter sports are so close to our national airline’s heart.”
