New Delhi, January 14, 2019: The 18th edition of the Swami Haridas-Tansen Sangeet Nritya Mahotsava, presented by HCL Concerts and Bharatiya Sangeet Sadan, concluded yesterday. The four-day event which was organized from January 10th to January 13th, 2019 at the Sir Shankarlal Hall, Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi witnessed performances by the country’s legendary classical music and dance performers. The event was attended by over 10,000 arts enthusiasts over the four days in the capital.

The Mahotsav started on a high note with the engaging performance of the veteran Kathak dancer, Uma Sharma. The evening was further enriched with an outstanding performance by the Indian classical flautist, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and a recital by the famous Hindustani classical singer Smt. Parveen Sultana.

The Day 2 of the festival began with an instrumental Jugalbandi of Sarod by Ayaan Ali Bangash and Amaan Ali Bangash. Later, Pandit Channulal Mishra began his vocal recital showcasing several permutation and combinations of musical notes. The day culminated with a performance by the great santoor player, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, leaving the crowd enthralled.

Saturday evening (Day 3), began with the recital of the well-known Hindustani classical music vocalist, Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. The second performance of the evening featured the creator of the Mohan Veena and the winner of the Grammy award Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt, who was accompanied by his son, Shri Salil Bhatt, the creator of the Satvik Veena. The last performance for the night was delivered by celebrated Sarod player, Ustad Aashish Khan.

The last day of the festival began with a mesmerizing performance by the Gundecha Brothers, Umakant Gundecha and Ramakant Gundecha. The Mohatsava concluded with the performance of legendary Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

HCL Concerts and Bharatiya Sangeet Sadan organize the annual Swami Haridas-Tansen Sangeet Nritya Mahotsava with the aim to revive and enhance interest in traditional Indian art forms, both musical and performing arts, particularly with the younger generation.
