Chandigarh, October 2, 2015: On the occasion of Ghandhi Jyanti and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Jyanti, the residents of Mata Gujri Hall with cooperation of Warden Kuljeet Kaur Brar celebrated this day as Swachta Diwas.
Others present on the occasion were, Dean Students Welfare (DSW), Prof. Navdeep Goyal, DSW (Women) Prof. Nandita Singh, former DSW Prof A.S.Ahluwalia, Director, NSS Prof. Yograj Angrish, Centre for Social Work Dr. Gaurav, wardens of other hostels, officials of health department of PU and the members of PUCSC.
This initiative was taken by warden Kuljeet Kaur Brar along with committee members of Girls Hostel No. 1. Under this abhiyan, hostel premises and roadside areas were cleaned, as informed by Dr. Kaur.
Prof. A.S. Ahluwalia recommended that waste area outside the Girl’s hostel No. 1 should be converted into parking lots so that cleanliness persists. Prof. Yograj Angrish opined that proper tiling should be there in the washing area. PUCSC suggested that the park between Girl’s Hostel No 1 and 2 should be cleaned and properly maintained.
As “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, Prof. Seema Kapoor, Coordinator, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, PU suggested that we should celebrate other days of the year also as Swachta Diwas, so that surroundings and campus remain clean and hygienic. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
