The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shivraj V. Patil in a pledge taking ceremony along with officers and staff of Punjab Raj Bhavan to launch Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan campaign at Punjab Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

Chandigarh October 2, 2014: Officers and employees of Punjab Raj Bhavan today took pledge to launch  Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan campaign today on the occasion of Gandhi Jyanti at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
Paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation,  Mr. Shivraj V. Patil, the Governor of Punjab and Administration, Union Territory, Chandigarh said that "The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi,  is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to Bapuji’s ideals of truth, non-violence and all-round development. He appealed to staff to inculcate the habit of cleanliness and also educate your family and encourage others to participate in cleanliness drive.  He further declared to take special steps for cleaning important public places in the city of Chandigarh, specially the Sukhna Choe, Patiala-ki-Rao and N-Choe drains and vegetables and fruit market etc.
Principal Secretary to Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, M.P. Singh administered the oath of cleanliness to entire staff of Punjab Raj Bhavan, today at 9.45 AM.
After reading the pledge, Singh said that Gandhiji believed that cleanliness is next only to Godliness. He said Let us pledge this day to convert cleanliness into a National passion. Every road, every path, every office, every home, every hut, can and must be kept clean, he added.
